About Me

Hello there! I’m so glad you are here, and I would love to share a little bit about my story.

I am a woman, mother, wife, daughter and friend. I’m also a believer that the mothering journey can be a beautiful initiation into our true selves. However, my own experience of birthing and mothering children has shown me that we sometimes need acknowledgment, additional information and support to get there. For me, birth injury, pelvic health challenges, menstrual cycle dilemmas and mental health is personal.

It is my womb and body wisdom that has led me through. And I would love to help you connect with yours.

Professionally I am an occupational therapist with a strong interest in women’s health and the ways we experience feminine rites of passage. My passion is nurturing and empowering women to listen to their own body so they can navigate conception, pregnancy, birth and ongoing mothering experiences with self-love, confidence and vitality. I believe that our internal cycles and rhythms are a potent road map for these transitions; and the knowledge and connection we have with our pelvic space is another powerful tool for guiding us on our mothering journey. Our body, mind and spirit cannot be separated from each other and the challenges that arise through rite of passage need a holistic approach if we are to find healing and strength for our pelvic, menstrual and emotional wellbeing. I also come from a matrascentric feminism lens that centres the mother in her own experience, and acknowledges the importance and valuable contributions that come from the mothering role.

I am convinced that the way we support mothers matters – not only to women but also our children and communities at large. This led me to complete post-natal doula training and influences the way I support women at key mothering transitions. Inspired by its role in my own mothering journey I am also a practitioner of the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. I love sharing this touch based support and the practical self care practices that people can use to connect with their body. My interest in the ways our environment, habits, roles, imprints and lineage impact our pelvic health and overall wellbeing led me to complete Holistic Pelvic Care™ and Holistic Pelvic Energy™ training with Tami Kent. As a certified practitioner with the Institute of Birth Healing I have added further techniques for supporting the bones, organs, ligaments and spiritual aspects of our mothering transitions. I have also completed further training to achieve mental health endorsement with the Occupational Therapy Association of Australia, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Community of Selves (parts based work), compassion therapy and The Art of Holding. This combination of talk, touch, somatic and function orientated approaches inform the way I provide occupational therapy services.

I am drawn to the innate wisdom for woman and mother care from within traditional cultures, but break this knowledge down so that people can understand the intended purpose and benefits. Combined with evidence and current knowledge, mothers are then informed and free to create their own meaningful routines and rituals to support wellbeing throughout mothering transitions. I reference a wide range of authors and resources in regard to pelvic health, menstrual cycles, emotional wellbeing and mental health, conscious conception, informed and peaceful birth, joyful mothering, respectful parenting and wild healthy ageing.

I am so excited to be offering this blend of services to women, mothers and birthing people through The Wild Orange Tree.
